President Message

Mr. Usman Ahsan

President

It is a profound honor and privilege for me to serve as the President of the Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA), an institution that has consistently contributed toward strengthening Pakistan’s financial management landscape through professional excellence, integrity, and public service.

At the outset, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to our sponsoring bodies — Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP), and the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) — for their continued guidance, patronage, and unwavering support toward the growth and development of PIPFA. Their collective vision and commitment remain instrumental in strengthening the Institute and advancing the accountancy profession in Pakistan.

I also extend my deep appreciation to the distinguished members of the Board of Governors whose vast experience, professional wisdom, and strategic leadership continue to guide the Institute toward progress and institutional excellence. Their commitment to good governance and long-term development provides a strong foundation for PIPFA’s future journey.

Equally deserving of recognition is the dedicated PIPFA team whose professionalism, hard work, and tireless efforts ensure the effective functioning and continuous advancement of the Institute. Behind every achievement of PIPFA stands a committed workforce striving with sincerity and determination to serve our students, members, and stakeholders.

Most importantly, our students and members remain the true ambassadors of PIPFA. Through their professional conduct, competence, integrity, and contributions across diverse sectors, they carry the reputation and values of the Institute into organizations and communities both nationally and internationally. Their success is the true measure of our collective progress.

The accountancy profession today stands at a defining moment in history. Rapid technological transformation, digital disruption, evolving regulatory frameworks, increasing stakeholder expectations, sustainability considerations, and the growing demand for transparency and accountability are reshaping the role of finance professionals across the world. The modern accountant is no longer merely a recorder of financial transactions; rather, he or she is a strategic advisor, a guardian of public trust, a driver of governance, and a partner in sustainable economic development.

In this changing environment, PIPFA must not only adapt but lead with vision, resilience, and purpose.

Our resolve is clear — to further strengthen PIPFA as a premier professional accountancy body with strong national and international recognition, producing competent, ethical, and future-ready finance professionals capable of serving both the public and private sectors with distinction.

One of our foremost priorities will be the comprehensive revamping and modernization of the education curriculum to align it with emerging global realities and market expectations. The future demands professionals equipped not only with strong technical foundations, but also with competencies in digital finance, data analytics, governance, sustainability, strategic decision-making, communication, and leadership. We will work diligently to ensure that the PIPFA qualification remains relevant, dynamic, and globally competitive.

Equally important is the broader acceptance and recognition of the profession and the value our graduates bring to organizations and the economy. We will actively engage with regulators, policymakers, employers, academia, and industry leaders to enhance the stature and visibility of PIPFA-qualified professionals at both national and international levels.

As a body deeply connected with public finance and governance, PIPFA shall continue to work closely with the public sector to support institutional strengthening, financial discipline, transparency, accountability, and capacity building. The role of professional accountants in public sector transformation has never been more important, particularly in an era where efficient financial management and public trust are central to economic stability and national progress.

Another key focus area will be the development of a stronger and more vibrant employment ecosystem for our students and members. Professional qualification must translate into meaningful career opportunities, professional growth, and economic empowerment. We will therefore strengthen industry linkages, employer engagement, practical training avenues, and career development initiatives to improve the employability and market presence of PIPFA graduates.

At the institutional level, we are fully committed to promoting transparent, inclusive, and effective governance within the Institute. Strong governance frameworks, accountability, member engagement, and institutional integrity are fundamental to building confidence and ensuring long-term sustainability. We will continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and public interest that define the very essence of the accounting profession.

I firmly believe that the future of PIPFA lies in unity, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Together with our members, students, faculty, employers, regulators, sponsoring bodies, and all stakeholders, we can build an institution that not only responds to the challenges of the future but also shapes the future of the profession in Pakistan.

I invite all stakeholders to join hands in this collective journey of progress and transformation as we work toward elevating PIPFA to greater heights of excellence, relevance, and impact.

With dedication and optimism, we move forward together.
